When Matcha drinks Coffee: Why I’m Loving Pour Over Coffee

August 16, 2019blog, Uncategorized

Matcha here, checking in to share a new coffee machine and method of preparation that I have been loving: pour over coffee. Do not get me wrong, I love a good frothy matcha in the morning. There is something so cozy about coffee to me; I love how its smell instantly signifies the start of a new day. It signifies that it is time to wake up and get started on whatever your day has to offer.

Coffee is definitely known to go through trends; whether it be Nitro brew or oat milk lattes, the list is endless. The latest buzz I’ve been seeing at coffee shops and from different baristas is pour over coffee. There is nothing too fancy about it, which was a big reason I was so interested in trying it out. Pour over coffee simply gives you total control over the brewing process and allows you to have a stronger and tastier cup of coffee. It also yields a much smaller mess than other methods, which I am all about.

So, whats the buzz?

I’m excited to share that the pour over method is my new method of choice thanks to Mr. Coffee. Sadly, I have been attached to my Keurig machine for years. It definitely makes me cringe at how many K-cups I have been through and wasted. But alas, we cannot all be totally perfect in our sustainability efforts. This is a big reason why I wanted to share my new find with all of you. I am happy to have found a method that reduces waste and tastes a LOT better in my opinion.

Pour over coffee is a method of brewing coffee that allows you to control the temperature of water you are using. Because of this, the water temperature is at the optimal heat to brew your coffee — 200 degrees Fahrenheit. You are also able to control how fast the water pours over the coffee. In this case, the slower the better as it gives more time for the water to absorb all of the flavor notes of the coffee beans.

How do I make it at home?

One thing I really love about the Mr. Coffee Pour Over Machine is that it is extremely intuitive. It has an LED screen with instructions and the machine beeps at you if you miss a step or if you do anything wrong. I mean, I totally need this setting on for all of the happenings in my life! Forgot to lock the front door? Accidentally left the lights on before leaving the house? Dog has to go to the bathroom? Please beep at me!

You have the option with the machine to make 2, 4, or 6 cups of coffee. I really love this feature as it allows you do reduce waste. It’s really nice that you aren’t required to brew an entire pot; you have total control over what is made.

The machine retails for around $139. To me, any machine like this is a smart investment as we all know how expensive coffee shops can be. To purchase the machine, you can click the link here. I will add a highlight to my Instagram page showing how easy it is to brew with the machine. Because, who doesn’t love a tutorial?

This blog post is sponsored by Mr. Coffee but all of the opinions and recommendations are wholeheartedly my own.

I hope you enjoyed learning a little more about pour over coffee! Tell me, have you tried out this method before? What is your brewing method of choice? Are you a coffee or a matcha person? As you can tell, I am a happy mix of both and am extremely excited to have found this new method to use in the ease of my home. Wishing you all a great day ahead!

xo,

Cori

Hi! My name is Cori Finglass and I live in Atlanta, Georgia. I have a huge passion for health and wellness and my dream is to share that passion with others. Here you can find my favorite healthy recipes, tips on living a balanced life, honest recommendations and so much more!

ooooo baby. this dairy free chicken sausage lasagn ooooo baby. this dairy free chicken sausage lasagna with spicy tomato sauce is IT. did I mention it’s made with @palmini_official hearts of palm lasagna noodles?
it’s decadent, it’s cozy, and it just so happens to be low carb if that’s your jam. for the sauce layer: cook @wholefoods ground mild Italian chicken sausage in a pan. once almost cooked, add in half of a package of organic mushrooms chopped finely. when the chicken and mushrooms are cooked, add in 1 jar of @raoshomemade arrabiatta sauce. cook on medium-low for a few minutes and add in the spinach. when the sauce starts bubbling, bring it to a simmer until you assemble the lasagna. for the ricotta: i love making @minimalistbaker vegan ricotta which calls for blanched almonds which don’t require any soaking. i also add in fresh basil and Italian seasoning for extra flavor. for the top: i used a half of a circle of @miyokoscreamery cashew milk mozzarella sliced thinly + fresh basil. preheat your oven to 375F. in a 9x5 standard loaf pan, put a layer of the sauce. then top with six pieces of the @palmini_official lasagna noodles. top the layer of noodles with a layer of the vegan ricotta. repeat steps until you reach the top of the pan and you have a layer of sauce on top. top with the slices of mozz and bake for 40 minutes. broil for 5. when you remove the lasagna from the oven, spread the mozz with a knife and it will get all melty. top with fresh basil, slice and enjoyyy!
if you know me, you know i like to add a little he if you know me, you know i like to add a little heat to just about everything that i eat. these grain free chicken and waffles are no excuse! @lesserevilsnacks took their new delicious 'fiery hot' flavor and made power curls out of them. i used these as the breading for the air fried chicken to pair with my waffles. these new yummy snacks are filled with cassava flour, avocado oil, egg whites and more. i'll leave the air fryer chicken nugget recipe below so you can make this insanely good meal as well.

air fryer chicken nuggs: put half the bag of @lesserevilsnacks fiery hot power curls in the food processor until ground. whisk 1-2 eggs and put it in a bowl. take two chicken breasts, cut them into cubes, dip each cube in the whisked egg and then dip in the @lesserevilsnacks fiery hot power curl breading. place the breaded nuggets in the air fryer and cook on 400F for 10 minutes. drizzle a little honey on top before eating; this adds the BEST touch to the fiery flavor.

as always, you can use my code CORI20 for 20% off all of their products on their website! truly the best, most addicting snacks ever.

the before shot of the vegan birthday cake cookies the before shot of the vegan birthday cake cookies might just be my favorite. the recipe is from from @peanutbutterpluschocolate and it is definitely going to be on repeat for all of the celebrations over here. i made them gluten free for a friend by using gf all purpose flour; but have made them with regular all purpose flour and they both work great!
for the sprinkles, i have been loving using the natural ones from @watkins.1868. they don't have any dies or funky ingredients; love to see it.
if you are a birthday cake, sugar cookie, funfetti loving gal like me (and belated bday gal @nbcohen18), snag the recipe on ciarra's blog! they come out pretty massive - crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. such a great texture.
happy friday, friends :)

grain free breakfast BLTs for my mom and me were a grain free breakfast BLTs for my mom and me were a hit this morning
a toasted @soozysgrainfree bagel with @kitehillfoods chive almond milk cream cheese, lots of everything but the bagel seasoning, a @goodfoodmadesimple egg white patty seasoned with a little s&p, turkey bacon, sliced tomato and some spinach for good measure.
isn’t she lucky??! jk — i’m definitely the lucky one! she’s the best taste tester and company to have around always. hi mom. 👋🏻
hope you have the best Thursday!
a lil sweet, lil savory — the perfect mix of bot a lil sweet, lil savory — the perfect mix of both for breakfast today 🙌🏻
for the waffles I used @birchbenders paleo mix with an added scoop of @sproutliving vanilla lucuma protein (my favorite — no funky aftertaste) and topped them with strawberries, @enjoylifefoods chocolate chips, hemp seeds and a little bit of maple syrup.
my favorite way to cook Turkey bacon is in the oven on 400 for around 14 minutes or in a pan with a little avocado oil to make the bacon pieces super crispy.
hope you all have a great hump daaay!
i think we can all agree that delivery services ha i think we can all agree that delivery services have been such a lifesaver over the past year — i know I’ve definitely been leaning on them more and more because convenience is truly key 💁🏼‍♀️ so excited to share that Atlanta now FINALLY has alcohol delivery through @drizlyinc! #drizly partners with local alcohol stores to deliver liquor, wine, beer, spirits and more to those of age in under 60 minutes. yes please!

grab your sweat set, start the fireplace, because you don’t have to go any 👏🏻 where 👏🏻 to enjoy your next cocktail. and on the topic of convenience, I’m sharing a delicious cold brew cocktail recipe for your next brunch at home. you’ll need 1 part vodka, 2 parts baileys almond milk (delivered contactless through @drizly) and 3 parts cold brew. put everything into a cocktail shaker with ice and mix well to get that froth. throw in a splash of simple syrup or your favorite coffee sweetener. basically a lazy girls espresso martini 🍸

download the @drizly app and get your favorite spirits delivered in an hour or less! cheers, friends.
